We're excited to offer Reformer Pilates as an additional service members can add to their current Altea Active Membership.
The design of the reformer machine allows for fluid, controlled movements with minimal impact on your joints.
Reformer Pilates is a conditioning regime designed to address the body as a system where all movement stems from the trunk/deep core to correct muscular imbalances, and improve stability, strength and mobility, coordination and mind-muscle connection for better control and awareness.
Your Pilates instructor can tailor the workout to your individual needs, goals, and fitness levels. This focused approach ensures that the exercises are safe, effective, and suitable for your specific requirements, maximizing results.

Unlike many exercise routines that target isolated muscle groups, Reformer Pilates engages your entire body in each movement. The resistance provided by the reformer machine ensures that no muscle is left untouched, resulting in comprehensive muscle development.
The design of the reformer machine allows for fluid, controlled movements with minimal impact on your joints. This makes Reformer Pilates an ideal choice for those recovering from injuries or with joint sensitivities.
Core engagement is a fundamental aspect of ReformerPilates. As you stabilize and control your movements, your core muscles - including abdominals, obliques, and lower back - become stronger, contributing to better posture and reduced back pain.
Reformer Pilates focuses on creating long, lean muscles rather than bulky ones. The result is a sculpted, toned physique with improved body proportions.
How do I purchase and book Reformer Pilates Sessions?
What is the Reformer Pilates?
The Reformer is a sliding bed-like machine that uses springs and straps to create varying resistance. It makes movements more accessible for beginners while offering more of a challenge to advanced practitioners. There are so many movements and variations that can be used to challenge your whole body in a different, effective way. Reformer sessions are a great way to work the whole body while increasing mobility, strength, and core stabilization.
What is Reformer Pilates good for?
Reformer Pilates develops a strong core while supporting and strengthening the torso, hips, shoulders and pelvic muscles. Reformer Pilates gives a full-body (can also be sectioned off to upper and lower body) workout, improving power, strength, flexibility, mobility, cardio and efficiency.
What are the Benefits of the reformer? Why would I want to use the Pilates Reformer?
Who can benefit from using the Pilates Reformer?
What are the different levels offered for Pilates Reformer Classes?
1. Foundations – Those new to the Reformer or looking to fine-tune the basics. If you have never been on a reformer or it has been a long time since you have done reformer classes, it is suggested to complete the 3 Small Group orientation package, or the introductory – 3 private sessions before you take part in any other I/A group classes. This class is for everyone. The instructor will teach all levels in the class.
2. Intermediate– For participants who have done our Foundations sessions or are familiar with the reformer apparatus already and are ready for more! Essential breathing and concentration at the Foundations level are now challenged with staying centred while learning the intermediate repertoire.
3. Advanced– Understands the Pilates reformer repertoire, including breath work and is ready for a challenge. One can move quickly from one exercise to another with proper form.
If I have never done Reformer Pilates, which session do I attend?
You would go into any “Foundations” class, which will introduce you to the Reformer, and go through a slower-paced class focusing on learning all core exercises and introducing you to breath. This class is also suitable for someone wanting to fine-tune the basics.
If I have done Reformer Pilates sessions at another studio, how do I know which Session/Package to purchase?
You have the choice of purchasing Small Group session(s), as well as any Private or Semi-Private or any of these session types as a package.
I am new to Reformer Pilates; which class package do I purchase?
You can purchase the 3-Pack Small Group Orientation Series package or the 3-Intro Privates package as a 1x purchase or a Single Drop-in Small Group Session or Single Private Session. Any other semi-private packages may be purchased since the instructor will teach to all levels in the class, providing modifications as needed.
How often should I do Reformer Pilates?
By participating in Reformer Pilates 2-3 times per week you will see and feel noticeable results. Our expert coaches will motivate and guide you to get the most out of your sessions.
How long before I will see results or feel results?
Some results will be immediate, such as feeling more energized, and stronger. Like any other program, results will vary based on the individual. Commitment, consistency and effort will determine the level of results you will see 🙂
Do I wear socks or go barefoot?
It is mandatory to wear anti-slip socks so you don’t slip. These can be purchased at the front desk.
How do I sign up for a class?
You can sign up through our app or by talking to a Pilates instructor who can book you in for Private, Semi-Private, or Small Group sessions.
Do I have to find my own people to join a Small Group session with?
No, you can just sign up for the session.
Is there a cancellation fee?
