General Inquiries

Can Guests Attend Studio Fitness Classes?

Guests can join a class on a walk-in basis (if there is availability in the class).

Will there be other locations in Winnipeg?

Altea Active is planning to expand in Ontario and across Canada, however, there is no plan for a second Winnipeg club at this time.

Can I just get a membership for only the pool?

All of our memberships include access to the pool; however, we do not offer a membership for only the pool. If you would like to learn more about our membership options, please book a tour. 

What type of shampoo, body wash & lotion are available for members?

We are thirlled to offer our members Aveda personal care products.

Can my friend or family member come for a class with me? Is there an age limitation?

Yes, as long as they are over 12 years old, a current member or visitor with a valid Guest Pass. Please note that guests are limited to walk-in availability.

Does Altea Active cater to all fitness levels & age groups?

Yes, all classes provide progressions and modifications. All classes are appropriate for all levels, unless otherwise indicated in the description.

What are the Hours of Operation?

We are open Monday to Friday from 6AM to 11PM and Saturday & Sunday from 6AM to 8PM.

Do you offer student, corporate and family membership options?

We offer excellent options for everyone, including Corporate, Family Add-ons and Students. Please book a membership appointment or check us out in-club to review all options and see which you are eligible for.

Are all classes on the schedule included in my membership?

Yes, all studio fitness classes are included in all levels of membership.

You’ve advertised 180+ studio fitness classes. Are they included with my membership?

All members have full access to best-in-class boutique offerings within the clubs CYCLE Studio, Hot Yoga Studio, Fusion Studio, Women’s Studio and Co-ed Studio that feature a fantastic array of classes, including Anti-Gravity Fitness, boxing, dance, strength and more.

The Pilates Reformer Training is available as an additional service for members.

What is included in membership? What is extra?

All members have access to studio fitness classes, strength & cardio equipment, pool & spa amenities, lounge areas, and rock climbing and skating treadmill discounts.

Items that require an additional fee are personal training, Active Kids, rock climbing, skating treadmill, Starbucks, and The Smoothie Bar.

Do I need to have a valid certification to teach at Altea?

Yes, all Altea instructors are required to hold valid certifications in the discipline they teach.

Personal Training

What should I bring to each session?

Bring gym clothes that allow you to move freely. Training shoes are more appropriate than running shoes for lifting weights. A water bottle is recommended. Cell phones are allowed but should not we worn on the body while exercising.

Do personal training sessions expire?

Yes. Personal training sessions expire after one year.

How hard will I work during each session?

Your personal trainer will collaborate with you to determine your levels of perceived exertion. They will use the information you provide to ensure you are working hard enough to see results, but NOT in excess of what is safe or appropriate.

Will my training package renew automatically?

No. Your personal trainer will present renewal options near the end of your current package.

Can I cancel my training package at any time?

No. Training packages can not be cancelled outside of your rights under the Consumer Rights Protection Act. Sessions can be sold or gifted to other Altea members.

How many times a week should I see a trainer?

Three sessions per week is optimal for seeing results, while two sessions per week can be effective if the client also completes workouts on their own.

What if I need to cancel a session? How far in advance do I need to notify you so that I don’t get charged?

We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Personal training sessions cancelled within 24 hours will be charged.

How do I find the right personal trainer for me?

How much does a personal trainer cost?

This depends on Level of Personal Trainer, length of package, type of training, etc. They can range from around $50 to $95 per hour. For more info, please email training@alteaactive.com.

Does Altea Active offer personal training?

Absolutely! We offer 1-on-1 personal training and small group training programs. Our dedicated personal trainers are ready to work alongside you to motivate, educate and inspire results. If you want more info about Personal Training, please email training@alteaactive.com.

Active Kids Club

Do you allow nuts?

No, the AKC is a nut-free space.

Will you feed my child?

Yes we can certainly feed bottles and snacks you provide.

Is there a bathroom in the AKC?

Yes, we have a spacious bathroom with a change table in the AKC.

Do you change diapers?

No, AKC team members do not change diapers. If your child requires a change, we will give you a call.

Do you have a maximum number of kids you can take at once?

Yes, we have set ratios that we must adhere to for safety and experience.

Do I have to book an appointment for the Active Kids Club?

It is highly recommended to book an appointment to avoid disappointment if the AKC is fully booked.

How long can my child stay in the AKC?

AKC time slots are 2 hours in length.

How far in advance can I book a spot in Active Kids Club?

Booking opens 2 days in advance.

Do I have to stay in the building when my child is in the Active Kids Club?

Yes, guardians must stay in the building during their child’s visit at the Active Kids Club.

What are the hour of operation for the Active Kids Club?

Active Kids Club is scheduled to operate on Weekdays from 8am-8pm and Weekends from 8am-1pm

Studio Fitness

Studio Fitness Booking Policies:

Altea currently opens reservations through the MyAlteaActive app 48 hours prior to each class. Members are able to book on a first-in basis.  If you are not going to be able to make the class, we ask that you cancel at least 2 hours prior to the class start time. This allows time for another member to fill your spot if you can’t make it!  Cancellations within 2 hours minutes of the class start time will be considered a late cancel, and you will receive a strike.

Can I Attend A Class If I Didn’t Book?

We accept walk-ins to each class if there is space available.

What is the temperature of the humidity in the Hot Yoga Studio?

Hot Yoga 40-45% relative humidity and 104-105 degrees Farenheit (40 degrees Celcius).

How often does your fitness schedule change?

The schedule is seasonal with slight changes for Summer/Fall/Winter/Spring. You could have a substitute instructor at any time due to the instructor’s illness, etc. The name will be displayed on the app.

What are the most popular group fitness classes?

The most popular fitness classes can vary by person. Here are some examples of fitness classes that are popular at Altea Active:

Yoga: Yoga classes are popular for their physical and mental benefits, including increased flexibility, strength, and stress relief.

HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training): HIIT classes involve short bursts of high-intensity exercise alternated with periods of rest or low-intensity exercise. They are popular for their efficiency and calorie-burning potential.

Cycling/Spin Classes: Cycling or spin classes involve riding stationary bikes to music and are popular for their cardiovascular and leg-toning benefits.

Pilates: Pilates classes focus on building core strength, flexibility, and balance through controlled movements and stretching.

Barre: Barre classes are a fusion of ballet-inspired movements, Pilates, and yoga, and focus on building strength, flexibility, and balance through isometric exercises.

Zumba: Zumba is a dance-inspired fitness class that combines Latin music and dance movements with cardio exercise.

Bootcamp: Bootcamp classes involve a combination of cardio, strength training, and bodyweight exercises, and are popular for their total-body workout and variety of exercises.

We recommend trying a variety of classes to see which ones you like best. For recommendations on classes and training options, we recommend booking your Road Map Session.

When do fitness classes start?

Group fitness classes start as early as 6AM!

How many fitness classes should I take per week? 

The number of fitness classes you should take per week will depend on your fitness goals, current fitness level, and schedule.

Generally, we recommend 2-5 classes per week.

What type of shoes or cleats do I need?

Any running shoes will be okay to participate in a cycle class as the bikes have straps to keep your feet on the pedals. Cycle bikes at Altea use SPD/Shimano cleats. 

Aquatics

Do you offer private lessons?

Yes! We offer private (1:1) Semi-private (1:3) and Group(1:6) lessons

When do lessons run?

Lessons run Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. As well as Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Can I register my neighbour’s or friend’s child?

No, members can only register their household dependants.

What happens if I register my child in the incorrect level?

We will do our best to help switch levels if they are available but it may result in the lesson being canceled and you refunded.

How do I know what level to register my child in?

Please contact swimming@alteaactive.com we can assist and schedule a swim test if needed

How do you register for lessons?

Registration is completed in the member portal through the MyAlteaActive app

Do you offer lessons for adults?

Yes! We offer lessons from 4 months old – 100 years!

How often do you offer lessons?

We run seasonal sessions all year round with starts in Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer.

Do you need to be a member of Altea Active to register for swim lessons?

Yes, lessons are available to Altea members only

Do you offer swimming lessons?

Yes, we offer the full Lifesaving society swim for life program

Climbing Club

If my child is climbing, must I stay in the building?

Yes, guardians must stay in the building during their child’s climb.

Do I need special footwear?

No, climbing shoes are not required, please bring clean closed toe shoes.

How do I book rock climbing at Altea?

Members can book in the member portal and the Myaltea App. Non-members can email climbingclub@alteaactive.com or call 204-221-3135

Is it only climbing in the climbing club?

No, we also have an amazing ninja course and interactive iWall

Is the climbing club fun for adults?

Absolutely! The climbing club has walls to challenge and entertain all ages.

What age groups do you accommodate?

Ages 4+ Adults too – Bring the whole family!

Parties

When can I book a birthday party?

Monday through Friday 6:00 PM or Saturday and Sunday 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM

What is included in a birthday party?

We offer an action-packed hour in our climbing club where the birthday kid and their friends can scale our amazing climbing walls, tackle our ninja course, and conquer our iWall! After exercising their ninja skills, the kids can gather for another hour in our party room to replenish and celebrate the birthday child. With the help of your own party host, it will be a party to remember!

Are parties open to non-members?

Yes! Altea Parties are available to both members and non-members.

Skating Lab

How long are skating treadmill sessions?

Every session is 30 minutes. The initial demo is 1 hour long so we can discuss a customized plan and schedule to suit your needs.

Can I bring a friend or teammate?

Certainly, the partner or buddy program is the best option in this case.

Can I try the treadmill before I commit to a package?

Of course, we offer a complimentary session to all non-members and members. Email Nathan at nhatton@alteaactive.com to book your demo.

Do I need to be a hockey player to join?

No, we also have recreational skaters and ringette players using the skating treadmill.

What programs do you offer?

Private, partner and small group classes for up to 3 skaters. We also offer team training for groups of up to 17 players

How do I book skating treadmill sessions?

Directly with the skate lab manager (Nathan Hatton, nhatton@alteaactive.com) or with any of our other skate lab instructors.

What do I need to bring for a skating treadmill session?

Skates, Athletic/Gym Attire & A Water Bottle (Stick Optional).

What ages is the skate lab for?

All ages. Typically most of our clients range from 7-20 years old. However, many adults use the skating treadmill for conditioning and performance.
